The Swiss

The Swiss are a three man disco house group and a “live band” (with instruments and stuff) from Australia, they are produced by Donnie Sloan (the man behind the desk of Empire Of The Sun and Sneaky Sound System). You can see some influences by Daft Punk in there and the music is very catchy. Their new EP “Bubble Bath” will be out in January 2010. Enjoy it!

The Swiss são uma banda live (com instrumentos e tal) e tocam disco house electrónica. Este trio Australiano é produzido por Donnie Sloan (o homem por detrás da máscara de Empire Of The Sun e Sneaky Sound System). Nota-se uma certa influência em samples de Daft Punk, é dançável e fica no ouvido. O seu novo EP “Bubble Bath” sairá já em Janeiro de 2010. Enjoy it!

Médio

Médio is João Cesar’s new project. He’s from Lisbon and produces Drum’n’Bass and Breakbeat. Just released his debut album, called “Owl”. From all the tracks there’s one that stands out. Quociente Emocional. Psychedelic breaks between a dark atmosphere and lyrics that appear to be “stolen” from the 90’s Portuguese hip hop. Excelent. Thumbs up!

Médio é um dos projectos do lisboeta João César. Produtor de Drum’n’Bass e Breakbeat. Acabou de lançar o álbum de estreia “Owl”. De todos os temas há um que se destaca. Quociente Emocional. Breaks meio psicadélicos metidos entre uma atmosfera negra e uma letra que parece ter sido arrancada do hip hop português dos anos 90. Excelente. Thumbs up!

It was like this two years ago. Chopped synths with cool vocals. It remembers some nights in Madrid at lowclub and elástico. December remix from Saint Pauli! They call it house rock haha!

Era assim há dois anos atrás. De certa forma sinto falta disto. Lembra-me algumas noites em Madrid no lowclub e no elástico. Sintetizadores cortados/desfeitos e vocals perfeitas. Remix de Dezembro dos Saint Pauli. Chamam-lhe house rock. I like it!

Joakim + Friendly Fires

I saw Joakim a few weeks ago on Debaser Medis, in Stockholm and I actually had the opportunity to give him a word before his act. The gig went terrible, since he followed Dirty Disco Youth‘s maximal-live-act with a housy-minimal set that crowded out the dancefloor. Nevertheless, Joakim is a great remixer and this Friendly Fires‘ remix is huge. He does what FF should have done all along, that is filling the music with more “layers”, making this cute song a “you gotta be fucking kiding me (surprised face)” song!

Eu vi o Joakim há umas semanas atrás no Debaser Medis, em Estocolmo e por acaso tive a oportunidade de falar com ele antes de ele passar som. Correu terrivelmente, porque ele veio a seguir ao maximal-live-act do Dirty Disco Youth com um set housy-minimal que esvaziou a pista. Ainda assim, o Joakim é um granda remixer e este remix de Friendly Fires é brutal. Ele faz o que basicamente os FF deviam ter feito logo, que é encher a música com mais “camadas”, fazendo a música passar de gira para uma “tás a gozar (cara de surpreso)” !
