The Ed Banger Records muse is coming to Lisbon and will be performing at Lux on the 1st of May. Anna-Catherine Hartley, mostly known as Uffie, was born in the United States, grew up in Japan and now lives in France where she fell in love with electro music and Dj Feadz. After 5 EP’s, the long awaited debut album of this electro princess will be released on May 31. It goes by the name of “Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans” and it was co-produced by Mr. Oizo, Sebastian, amongst other famous names. Just perfect.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to experience a Breakbot DJ set on our beloved LUX, event promoted by the also beloved DiscoTexas. It was really, really good. I thought it could be a good gesture to post one of his remixes (that he actually played last night!), namely Pnau‘s “Baby”.
Ontem tivémos a oportunidade de experienciar um DJ set de Breakbot no nosso querido LUX, evento promovido pelos também queridos DiscoTexas. Foi mesmo muito, muito forte. Eu achei que seria um bom gesto postar um dos remixes dele (que por acaso ele passou ontem!), nomeadamente a Baby dos Pnau.

Man, why are Canadian artists so underrated? Canadian music takes the triple to get to the spotlight, compared with American artists. I just came across with these guys called Hexes & Ohs that have been making music since 2005 (really known in Canada), that have this indie electro pop sound that I’m really fond of. Well, hope these guys get to be seen by a lot of people, because they really deserve it. And as for my lack of knowledge, better late than soon, right?!
Pá, porqué os artistas Canadianos são tão desvalorizados? A música Canadiana demora o triplo do tempo a chegar à ribalta, compara com os artistas Americanos. Eu acabei de conhecer estes manos chamados Hexes & Ohs, que já fazem música desde 2005 (bastante conhecidos no Canadá), que têm um estilo indie electro pop que eu gosto imenso. Bem, espero que esta malta consigam ser vistos por muita gente, porque merecem mesmo. E quanto ao meu desconhecimento, mais vale tarde que nunca, certo?!

Waxhouse are (so they say) an alternative indie, band formed by five kids who apparently played some gigs with bands such as O Children and Mystery Jets. Formed in early 2009, launched their first EP on the end of the same year and well.. it’s noticeable they’re still young fellows. Their debut release, “Curve Dare”, is not consistent at all, but there’s definitely something about them. My favourite song from the EP is Illusionnaires and that’s exactly what I want to share with you. Download the whole EP here.
Os Waxhouse são (segundo eles) uma banda indie alternativa, formada por cinco putos que aparentemente já tocaram alguns concertos com bandas como O Children ou Mystery Jets. Formados no inicio de 2009, lançaram o seu primeiro EP no final do mesmo ano e bem.. nota-se que ainda são camaradas jovens. O lançamento de estreia, “Curve Dare”, não é consistente de todo, mas há algo neles que me desperta interesse. A minha música favorita do EP é a Illusionnaires e é exactamente o que eu quero partilhar convosco. Saquem o EP inteiro aqui.

Burns just released a new EP called “So Many Nights” and RCRD LBL is giving out a free track to get you in the mood for buying it all. He was already one of our favourite rising stars from 2009 and yet again, he managed to surprise me. “Fourteen” is some serious electrojourney (as I love to call it), ideal for a bridge between the heavy electro and the less-heavier one.
O Burns acabou de lançar um novo EP chamado “So Many Nights” e a RCRD LBL está a dar uma faixa grátis, para vos pôr interessados na compra dele todo. Ele já era uma das nossas estrelas ascendentes favoritas de 2009 e ainda assim, conseguiu surpreender-me de novo. “Fourteen” é uma forte electrojourney (como eu gosto de chamá-la), perfeita para fazer a ponte entre o electro pesado e o menos pesadito.

Panic Bomber is Richard Haig, electro producer from Miami for whom music is not a coincidence, given his degree on the subject. As he puts it, his music is somehow difficult to classify because he has a lot of influences. I call it indie-electro, but the harder kind. Maybe electro-indie (the first name is always the major driver, right?). Well, whatever he is, I like it. Panic Bomber is definitely a guy to watch for this year. His Discipline EP was released last month and you can buy the whole EP here.
Richard Haig também conhecido como Panic Bomber, é um produtor de electro de Miami para quem a música não é uma coincidência, dado o curso na matéria. Nas suas próprias palavras, a música que ele faz é dificil de classificar porque tem muitas influências. Eu chamo-a indie-electro, mas da mais potente. Talvez electro-indie (o primeiro nome é o mais influente, certo?). Bem, seja lá o que ele for, eu gosto. O Panic Bomber é definitivamente um gajo a ter em conta este ano. O seu EP, Discipline, saiu no final do mês passado e podem comprá-lo na íntegra aqui.
